Brian W. Locke, MD, MSCI
Brian W. Locke is a pulmonary and critical care physician-scientist and Assistant Professor of Research at Intermountain Health. He practices in the Shock Trauma ICU and Schmidt Chest Clinic and serves as core faculty in the University of Utah Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship.
His research examines how respiratory failure is recognized, measured, and managed across health systems, with particular emphasis on hypercapnic respiratory failure and care after hospitalization. He uses linked EHR and claims data, computable phenotypes, clinical prediction, causal inference, and pragmatic trials, and develops reproducible analytical tools in Stata, R, and Python.
Separately, he advises MTN on clinical evidence and healthcare applications of adaptive data integration.
